WASHINGTON, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Michigan officials on Monday officially certified that President-elect Donald Trump has won the state’s 16 electoral votes.

    The statement, released almost three weeks after voting day, showed that Trump had a 10,704 votes’ lead over Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

    As the last state to determine the outcome of the presidential election, Michigan confirmed Trump’s 306 electoral votes, which towered over Clinton’s 232.

    This is the first time since 1988 the state has voted in favor of a Republican presidential nominee.
