Describe a long walk you had.
You should say:
where you went to
when you went
who you went with
and explain how you felt about this walk.
I love walking and there’s nothing better than a long walk on a day when the sun is shining and the sky is blue. I especially like hiking and exploring the great outdoors so I’ll often choose holiday destinations that have some good hiking trails.
This summer I decided to travel down to one of China’s sacred mountains, Taishan, which is in Shandong province. It’s one of The Five Great Mountains that are most renowned in Chinese history and have been places of pilgrimage by emperors throughout the ages.
I visited Taishan with my family sometime in August. It was a scorching day and we were dripping with sweat before we’d even started climbing. I was a little concerned as my mum is getting on a bit now, so I knew the climb would be hard work for her.

We set off in the morning, around eight AM, and reached the peak in the early afternoon. It usually takes around four or five hours, but we stopped quite a few times to catch our breath and drink some water, so all in all I reckon it took around seven hours.
The journey really took it out of us all, but once we reached the top I was elated. I was so proud of my mum in particular as she didn’t grumble once, she just put the pain out of her mind and got on with it. The views at the summit were spectacular, you could see for miles around, so it was really worth all the effort.
