Teaching and learning
    Many teachers believe that the responsibilities for (學(xué)習(xí)的責(zé)任) learning lie with (在于)the student. If a long reading assignment is given (布置閱讀作業(yè)), instructors expect students to be familiar with (熟悉) the (1) information (信息) in the reading even if they do not discuss (討論) it in class or take (進(jìn)行) an examination. The (2) ideal (理想的學(xué)生) student is considered (被認(rèn)為) to be one who is motivated (有學(xué)習(xí)的動(dòng)力)to learn for the sake of (3) learning (為了學(xué)習(xí)而學(xué)習(xí)), not the one interested only in getting high grades (而不是為了得高分而學(xué)習(xí)). Sometimes homework is returned (4) with (帶有簡(jiǎn)單的評(píng)論)brief written comments but (表示轉(zhuǎn)折，卻沒(méi)有給分) without a grade. It is the student's responsibility to find books, magazines, and articles in the library. Professors do not have the time to explain (8) how a university library works (如何使用圖書館;圖書館如何運(yùn)作的); they expect students (9)particularly (尤其是研究生)graduate students to exhaust the reference (10) sources (文獻(xiàn)的原始資料，尤指書﹑ 文件等)in the library.
