這部電影主要講：在抗美援朝的戰(zhàn)斗中，邱少云所在部隊要奪下敵人控制的391高地。他和戰(zhàn)友們潛伏在與敵人很近的草叢里，敵人使用了燃燒彈，邱少云不幸烈火燒身，為了這次戰(zhàn)斗的勝利邱少云同志嚴(yán)守紀(jì)律，強(qiáng)忍著烈火燒身的巨大痛苦，趴在火堆里一動也不動……看著這感人的場面，我不禁想起了幾件往事……
記得有一天中午，我早早地來到學(xué)校。我發(fā)現(xiàn)值日老師還沒有到學(xué)校，于是我就約上幾位同學(xué)玩起來，在教室里大吵大鬧，你追我趕，嚴(yán)重影響了其他同學(xué)休息。班長實(shí)在看不過去，就勸說了我?guī)拙?，說我要遵守中午紀(jì)律，可我瞪了班長一眼，根本不把班長的話當(dāng)作一回事。
又有上自習(xí)課，全班同學(xué)都按老師的布置各忙各的，而我一個人在搞小動作，后來被老師發(fā)現(xiàn)，批評教育了我，我還是沒有把老師的話聽進(jìn)去，每次上自習(xí)課，我不是在搞小動作，就是和同學(xué)說悄悄話……想到這里，我真是太慚愧了，唉，跟邱少云同志比起來，我差遠(yuǎn)了。
