一、轉(zhuǎn)移否定。
轉(zhuǎn)移否定結(jié)構(gòu)往往貌似一般否定結(jié)構(gòu)(not的位置與一般否定結(jié)構(gòu)中的 not完全相同)，實際上卻是一種部分否定結(jié)構(gòu)或是not由一部分轉(zhuǎn)移到另一部分。這樣的例子很多。
1.all...not
All these nations are not neutral.
誤譯：所有這些國家都不是中立的。
正譯：這些國家并非個個都是中立的。
這句話中，not否定的不是neutral，而是 all。這是一種部分否定。
更多的例子：All that glitters is not gold.發(fā)光的不一定就是金子。
Opportunities come to all，but all are not ready for them when they come.
機會人人都有，但當(dāng)機會到來的時候，并不是人人都做好了準(zhǔn)備。
2.every...not
Everything is not a joke.
誤譯：每件事都不是兒戲。
正譯：并非每件事都是兒戲。
這句話中，not否定的不是joke，而是 everything。
更多的例子：Everybody cannot do it.并非人人都能干得了這件事。
3.both...not
But you see，we both cannot go.
誤譯：但是我告訴你，我們兩人都不能走。
正譯：但是我告訴你，我們兩人不能都走。
這個句子中，not否定的不是go，而是 both。
更多的例子：I do not know both of them .他們兩人我只認(rèn)識其中一個。
4.not...because
You should not despise a man because he is poor.
誤譯：因為一個人窮，所以你不應(yīng)該看不起他。
正譯：你不應(yīng)該因為一個人窮就看不起他。
在這個句子里，not否定的不是后面的動詞despise，而是because he is poor。值得注意的是，這種句型是有歧義的，我們要根據(jù)上下文排除歧義。如：
I didn't go because I was afraid.這句話有兩種可能性。(1)否定的是not之后的動詞 go，可以理解成I didn't go，and that was because I was afraid.我因為害怕而沒有去。(2)否定的是because，可以理解成I went，but that was not because I was afraid(but because of some other reason).我不是因為害怕才去的(而是因為別的原因)。
更多的例子：A country is not strong because it is large.國大并不等于國強。
5.not...to
They don't come to see you killed.
誤譯：他們不來看你死。
正譯：他們到這兒來并不是要看你死亡的。
在這個句子里，not否定的不是動詞 come，而是to see you killed。
更多的例子：He said，'Now，look，I didn't come here to get along with you guys. You're going to have to get along with me.'他說："喂，老弟們，我到這兒來不是來聽你們的，該是你們來聽我的。"
