Job Description EMC is world wide famous data storage hardware and software solution provider a nd experienced in big data service. With such strong foundation along with a s lew of acquisitions in the past couple of years including GreenPlum, EMC has le d the industry in defining data service and transforms its product line complet ely in-line with the data cloud vision.
In the meantime, data has become a torrent flowing into every area of the globa l economy, marked the beginning of a new era dubbed as big data. The two trends - cloud computing and big data - already appear to be coming together. EMC r ecognized such trends and is working on delivery of big data cloud and big data analytics products, where Hadoop is at the center of it.
Our team is composed of well known industry veterans with a long history of bui lding and operating large scale distributed systems. We are self-starters with hands off management team that shields us from unnecessary bureaucracy. We have lives, we work flexible hours, we run a large scale service and we launch prod uct. Success in this role requires an ability to engage on large scale distrib uted systems problems solving, work with your peers to test quality of major ne w subsystems and ensure they are robust, reliable, high performance, scalable a nd secure.
Responsibilities: - Candidate will contribute and lead specialized development projects for inter nal use within the team. - Design, implement, and execute test plan against the core components of big d ata cloud processing framework, i.e. Hadoop, on vSphere, GreenPlum and Cloud F oundry . - Review & propose product design from customer point of view. Be an advocate f or the customers. - Find, RCA and follow through product defects with PM and Development in timel y manner.
Requirements:
- MS/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience with experience of softwar e programming and/or automated testing - Solid experience in Java - Experience with scripting languages such as - Python, Perl, Shell scripting r equired - Experience with REST or other web APIs such as SOAP/WSDL required - Experience in designing object oriented systems - Accurate task estimates and execution - Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills - Excellent communication skills essential - Fluent oral and written English communication
Additional Skills:
- Experience in building highly extensible and adaptable system or application is a plus - Background in distributed systems, operating systems, protocols, API developm ent - Understanding of VMware vSphere platform is highly desirable - Experience in automating flex application - Experience in one full enterprise level product release cycle as a key team c ontributor (internal or external product) - database testing knowledge on DB management area. NOSQL, especially Hadoop te sting experience is a plus
