Large-Scale Anti-Taleban Offensive Under Way in Afghanistan
    The U.S.-led military coalition in Afghanistan says a large-scale offensive is under way against Taleban insurgents in the south of the country, involving 11-thousand troops. The offensive is the biggest of its kind since coalition forces ousted the Taleban in 2001. Coalition officials say the operation involves more than two-thousand U.S. troops and soldiers from Britain, Canada and Afghanistan. They say the goal is to attack Taleban safe havens in four southern provinces and disrupt the insurgents' leadership.
    U.S. officials say the pace and scale of coalition attacks is expected to rise sharply in the next days.
