    來看這短語在日常生活中的用法：
    If dominance exists, I believe other investors will certainly "beat a retreat". 如果壟斷仍然存在，我相信其他投資者一定會打退堂鼓。
    When they see the teacher come, they beat a hasty retreat. 他們看到老師來了，就趕緊躲開。
    在中文里有這樣的說法：某人一見事情不妙，就跑得比兔子還快。這“跑得比兔子還快”正是“beat a retreat”。例如： When the burglars saw the police arriving they beat a hasty retreat.（當那些撬門溜鎖的看到警車到來，跑得比兔子還快。）
    另外，當眾人都march to the drummer時表示步調(diào)一致，march to a different drummer就表示步調(diào)不一了。
