lend，loan　　
    這一對詞都表示“借出”的意思，但詞性和使用場合有所不同。
    Lend是動詞，它的過去式和過去分詞是lent。用作轉(zhuǎn)義時，可作“幫助”解。例：
    Please lend me one thousand dollars．
    請你借一千元給我。
    I neither lend nor borrow．
    我既不借出，也不借入。
    由上列最后一例可見，“借物給人”是lend，“問人借物”是borrow。
    Please lend me a hand in lifting this desk．
    請幫我抬一下這張桌子。
    We will lend you all the assistance in our power．
    我們愿意盡力幫助你。
    Loan是名詞，用起來較lend正式?？荚嚧?BR>    He received a loan of one million dollars from the bank to tide over his financial difficulty．
    他得到銀行貸款一百萬元以度過財務(wù)困境。
    This bicycle is a loan，not a gift．
    這自行車是借給你的，不是送給你的。
    Many paintings in the art gallery are on loan from private collections．
    藝術(shù)館內(nèi)不少油畫是從私人珍藏中借來的?？荚嚧?BR>    但在現(xiàn)代美式英語里loan已用作動詞，相當(dāng)于lend，如：
    The library loans out many books a day．
    I lent him my tuxedo．（英式英語）
    I loaned him my dinner coat．（美式英語）
    注：tuxedo等于dinner coat。前者是British English；后者是 American English。
    Loan 除了“出借”之意外，尚可表示“公債”、“借款”等義。如：public loan是“公債”，foreign loan 是“外債”。
