Two NIH supported postdoctoral positions are open in a developmental neurobiology laboratory to investigate molecular interactions required for specification and cell type-specific gene expression of noradrenergic and cholinergic neurons. We use the neural crest as a model system in which to understand the intersection of growth and transcription factor regulation in neurogenesis and specification of neutrotransmitter identity. Using modern molecular biology approaches in mouse and avian embryos, studies focus on transcriptional regulation of cell type-specific gene expression, protein-protein interaction, post-translational processing and intracellular signalling. We employ a number of approaches, including modern techniques in molecular biology, biochemistry, embryology, mouse genetics, microscopy, and tissue culture.
Candidates with experience in neural development, intracellular signaling transcriptional control and protein biochemistry, ChIP and/or microarrays would be especially welcome. We are looking for an exceptionally motivated, well trained scientist who wants to work independently and contribute to the intellectual environment of the lab and research program.
