世界愛滋病日，焦點(diǎn)在中國(guó)
    China has stepped up its battle against HIV/AIDS in recent months, pledging free drugs to people in the countryside and poor urban residents who have the disease. But questions remain over whether the government's campaign is translating into real aid for China's official tally of 840,000 HIV sufferers and 80,000 AIDS victims.
    最近幾個(gè)月，我國(guó)進(jìn)入了一個(gè)抗戰(zhàn)愛滋病的新時(shí)期，我國(guó)政府保證免費(fèi)為農(nóng)村和城鎮(zhèn)貧困感染人群提供抗病藥物。盡管政府已經(jīng)作出多方的努力，但是，全國(guó)已有的84萬愛滋病患者和8萬愛滋病感染者這一事實(shí)卻是客觀存在。
    China's ministry of health has warned that if stronger HIV/AIDS prevention measures are not taken, 10 (m) million people could be HIV-positive by 2010.
    衛(wèi)生部發(fā)出警告稱：如果不采取有效的控制措施，估計(jì)到2010年，全國(guó)愛滋病感染人數(shù)將會(huì)達(dá)到1000萬人。
    According to the UNAIDS, as much as 40 per cent of the population - approximately five-hundred (m) million persons - don't know how to protect themselves against the virus. In some areas, up to 10 per cent were HIV-positive and they estimated that 8.5 (m) million people have sexually transmitted infections in the same year.
