    Almost any technology we take for granted today involves engineering: from mobile phones to space shuttles, engineering certainly has an impact on our daily lives. Increasingly over the last few years, I have become drawn to engineering and the wide range of possibilities that studying in this field can offer. Modern technology always intrigues me and I find it fascinating to see how they function, especially with the intricate physics behind them. I believe that although it is important to determine how things work, it is perhaps more valuable to understand why they fail and use it to our advantage to construct better solutions. I aspire to become an engineer because I believe that I can make a difference to our lives, by creating solutions for the many problems that surround our world today.
    After embracing a larger interest in engineering, I decided to broaden my mind by reading about different engineers such as James Watt and Edison. They both inspired me as they dedicated their work to improve living standards at the time, which revolutionized the way we lived. In July I attended a Headstart course at Loughborough to discover more about this field in general, and it has further secured my opinion that I want to be part of this area of expertise. Working at Steve Leung's Architects in Hong Kong last summer has provided me with a sound opportunity to gain an incredible insight into the areas of architecture and structural engineering. Although it was hard work, I enjoyed the challenges by solving them with scientific and mathematical ideas. Besides, I learnt to use statistical models to solve complex calculations, whilst developing teamwork and time management skills.
    I believe that I am well suited to this field, as my subjects and thinking reflect the nature of engineering. Studying physics with the Advanced Extension Award has provided me with the core scientific knowledge needed. My innate logical thought enables me to apply this theory to diverse and practical problems, which I find challenging and enjoyable. Maths has given me numerous problem solving opportunities and allows me to apply usual concepts to solve unusual situations. Furthermore, by studying Design and Technology, I gained experiences with electronics, materials and CAD/CAM, as well as coping with large amounts of coursework. Alongside the main subjects, I am also undertaking Chinese as an extra language. In addition, Geography at AS level presents me with analytical abilities and a greater awareness of issues on a larger scale.
    For the past 4 years I have thoroughly enjoyed boarding, as I get on well with others easily. This has helped me to develop as a person, making me independent and organized, but more importantly it has developed my interpersonal skills. As I am from a family of Chinese origins in the UK, I am able to speak both English and Chinese fluently, which is an invaluable advantage for me. Apart from my curricular activities, I like to be involved with other aspects of school life, such as sports. My favorites are rugby and hockey, and I am currently a member of the 1st Hockey team. I also help to coach the U15s team occasionally, and this develops my teamwork skills and discipline. On the other hand I have enjoyed taking part and helping to coordinate ???Jack and the Beanstalk???, which is the school pantomime for this year. Whenever possible, I enjoy socializing with friends, as I believe there is more to life than just academic success.
    Through my experiences I am beginning to appreciate the future and prosperity that engineering has to offer. I hope that a degree from your university will act as a key for a successful career in engineering.

    地下軌道交通，是新加坡的主要交通方式，客流量超過一半，而且在便利程度上也很優(yōu)秀，地鐵自1987年開通以來，目前已經(jīng)擁有121個(gè)車站，路線長達(dá)170公里，覆蓋面很廣。
    運(yùn)行時(shí)間從凌晨的5：30-凌晨1：00，一共有五條交叉的線路，互聯(lián)進(jìn)行勾連，能夠通往島上的各個(gè)地方，大家只需要在購票的時(shí)候，確認(rèn)好自己的目的地即可，使用綠色、紅色、紫色、黃色和藍(lán)色進(jìn)行區(qū)分。

    美國留學(xué) 哪些大學(xué)最難申請？哪些最好申請？
    大約超過75%的新生在高中各項(xiàng)成績列前10%，新生錄取率很低，在10%～37%之間。這些學(xué)校難進(jìn)也難出，比如IVY聯(lián)盟學(xué)校中被譽(yù)為“最容易進(jìn)，最難畢業(yè)”的康奈爾大學(xué)（Cornell University），其錄取率也僅僅只有30%左右。大學(xué)招生時(shí)會(huì)仔細(xì)審核申請人的高中成績、SAT考試，成績和社會(huì)活動(dòng)表現(xiàn)。大約在申請人數(shù)28%左右的學(xué)生可能會(huì)被錄取。這類學(xué)校的數(shù)量在70-80所之間。

    一、美國SAT考試
    美國SAT考試又稱美國高考，是美國大學(xué)入學(xué)考試。美國SAT考試分成SAT邏輯考試和SAT專項(xiàng)考試，SAT邏輯考試分文，數(shù)學(xué)，和三部分，滿分為2400;其中數(shù)學(xué)部分(滿分800分)內(nèi)容相當(dāng)于中國初中難度，大部分中國高中生只要經(jīng)過一段時(shí)間的訓(xùn)練，都能夠考取750分以上;一般情況下，美國前60名的學(xué)校在申請的時(shí)候都要求SATI，中國的高中生在接收一段時(shí)間的學(xué)習(xí)之后，總成績大概在1600到2300之間。美國對美國SAT考試成績要求較低的大概在1700左右。如果想申請30名之前的的學(xué)生，美國SAT考試成績大概要達(dá)到2000以上。
    二、語言考試，雅思或者托?？荚?/strong>
    留學(xué)需要什么條件，每個(gè)國家的要求都不同，但相同的一點(diǎn)就是語言條件了。去美國留學(xué)，也要參加托?；蜓潘伎荚?，一般參加雅思、托?？荚嚨膶ο蠖际窃谟⒄Z國家生活的時(shí)間不滿四年的人或者是非英語國家;雅思、托福的考試有效期是兩年，雅思滿分9分，新托福滿分為120分，申請美國留學(xué)雅思或托福成績必須具備其一，這是去美國留學(xué)的條件之一。

    I first encountered hotel management during work experience with a local hotel, working as a tourist manager assistant in July 2008.It was a summer job which was supposed to fill up my free time and increase my budget. I knew I was going to like it because I am keen on meeting new people and visiting tourist destinations, but I did not even suspect how much it would affect me. As an assistant I was required to help the tourist manager accommodate the guests and organize different kinds of entertainment. This job gave me opportunity to become acquainted with the work of such people as hotel, club and event managers. I was deeply impressed by their diligence to satisfy every need of their customers. I have realized the responsibility of their profession, but I have also understood how satisfied they are when their clients are happy. I will never forget the face of the tourist manager I worked with when the guests thanked him for the perfect holiday. His face was beaming. Despite the fact I was only an assistant I felt satisfaction too seeing that the tourists were content with our work. This feeling of gratification and even happiness more driven me decide to study Hospitality management.
    In 2007, with my academic performance of high school, especially three years average point of math in high school were approximately 90(full score was 100),among the best in class, I entered Hebei university of Engineering. In fact, when I graduated from high school, I wanted to go to study in America. Because of living with my parents from birth to high school graduation, and without having anyone around to advise me about the new abroad life I will face, I was afraid and not fully ready to figure out everything by myself. This changed, however, during my time at the HeBei University of Engineering. I achieved a G.P.A. of 3.5 during my first academic year and second academic year, and am confident that this third academic year's results will be even better. It is more important that I can deal with everything by myself. Besides my coursework, I joined the Student Art Troupe and Dancer, where I organized and participated various school wide parties, Art Festivals and dancing performances. I also participated in several community service activities, including the Visited Autism Children in Rehabilitation Center, Cared for the Elderly in HanShan Community planting tree in GuangMing Square and so on.
    I also developed many extracurricular hobbies .I started to like reading, which largely enriches my knowledge in many different fields. A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking is one of my favorite books. I loved music and was mastered in piano. When fretting, I would listen to some soft music then my heart could clam down; when tired, I would enjoy some classic music or jazz to relax myself; when playing Beethoven’s music by piano, I feel encouraged and moved. I also spend much of my spared time in sports especially basketball and soccer, in which teamwork are highly involved.
    The success of these two years instilled within me a drive to improve myself, prompting me to seek greater challenges and rewards; I am now ready for the path to academic excellence and figure out everything by myself.     在美國的綜合類和理工類的院校中，這是常設(shè)的學(xué)院，同樣是對大家來說是比較熱門的選擇，學(xué)院一般能夠接受來自政府和社會(huì)組織的雙重資助和贊助，可以享受很不錯(cuò)的硬件資源條件。

    由于社會(huì)需求量大，而且留學(xué)熱度高，所以有不少高校內(nèi)的商學(xué)院，就是沒有在入學(xué)階段就直接劃分專業(yè)，而是要先接受一年的通用課程，后續(xù)再選擇具體的專業(yè)，大家需要確認(rèn)好自己的選擇。
    此外目前美國還有不少獨(dú)立的商學(xué)院，提供專業(yè)化程度更高的專業(yè)學(xué)習(xí)，而且銜接度還搞，提供的實(shí)習(xí)安排也更適合學(xué)生的需求，是更適合學(xué)生的選擇，但是要求一般會(huì)比較高。
    除了文理、工學(xué)和商科之外的其他學(xué)校，其實(shí)都可以算作是特色的學(xué)院，因?yàn)樗麄兊囊?guī)模一般都不會(huì)很大，而且沒有覆蓋全國所有的院校，有些學(xué)院甚至只有少部分學(xué)校有設(shè)置。
    如果大家的選擇比較冷門的話，那么就需要花更多的時(shí)間進(jìn)行對比，確認(rèn)自己有比較合適的選擇，其中相對冷門的就有神學(xué)院、外交學(xué)院和電影學(xué)院等。
    審核的第一步是針對材料的，更新了審核的方式之后，學(xué)生可以直接在線上提交所有的材料，和大家提交申請表的頁面是在一起的，完成了表格填寫后，一起進(jìn)行提交。
    在頁面上就會(huì)標(biāo)示出大家要上傳的所有的材料，大家一定要確保自己準(zhǔn)備的材料是完整真實(shí)的，而且要按照給出的順序進(jìn)行提交，確保中途不會(huì)出現(xiàn)其他的問題，方便使館進(jìn)行審核。

    近年來由于留學(xué)生申請人數(shù)與日俱增，申請材料作假的事情我們已經(jīng)屢見不鮮，前不久UCI在秋季開學(xué)之時(shí)就取消了500名學(xué)生的入學(xué)資格，其中有290名學(xué)生涉嫌成績作假。
    所以高校在入學(xué)前會(huì)給留學(xué)生們設(shè)置最后這樣一道“門檻”，招生官通過幾個(gè)問題來檢驗(yàn)?zāi)闼峁┎牧系囊恢滦院驼鎸?shí)性。

    留學(xué)圈里的學(xué)生和家長，對美國新聞周刊的綜合大學(xué)排名或文理學(xué)院排名幾乎都耳熟能詳。在他們眼中，常春藤的八大盟校算名校，美國前50的大學(xué)算名校，世界前100的算名校。而敢于向名校發(fā)起沖刺的，往往都是中學(xué)中的尖子生?！拔业慕K極目標(biāo)是斯坦福?！薄叭绻ゲ涣饲?0我就不出國。”每年都能聽到這樣的豪言壯語。
    小馬是成都某名校的優(yōu)生，他的目標(biāo)很明確：只去美國TOP20的名校?！八X得，很多學(xué)校要求托福成績80分，他的托福成績是86分，就可以發(fā)起沖擊了，”業(yè)內(nèi)人士告訴記者，小馬其實(shí)不知道，雖然名校托福底線是80分，但是最終進(jìn)入這些學(xué)校的學(xué)生托福成績平均是100分！“他從去年10月開始申請，到今年4月底一封錄取通知書都沒收到。”小馬的顧問也很著急，“沒辦法，只能等下一年了……”
    美國名校猶如磁石，然而它們在中國的錄取名額又有多少呢？據(jù)了解，每年，能夠進(jìn)入美國前20名學(xué)校的中國學(xué)生差不多有兩三百人，相當(dāng)于北大、清華、復(fù)旦、人大4所國內(nèi)名校在四川的招生總量。常春藤盟校在中國招生總?cè)藬?shù)是：哈佛6-8人，耶魯6-9人，賓大10-12人，哥大 12-15人，康奈爾15人。耶魯大學(xué)在中國錄取了16名學(xué)生，錄取了13名學(xué)生，你能成為全中國的那個(gè)十幾分之一嗎？
