    The department of mathematics in Karlsruhe is one of 11 departments at a large technical university in Germany, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. It offers for all students a high level education and supports young researchers with scientific activities in many mathematical disciplines.

    At the department about 40 professors and lecturers together with approximately 80 PhD students and PostDocs provide an excellent programme for more than 1000 students in mathematics; in addition, all students in natural sciences or engineering get the basic mathematical education from us.     An important task of the faculty is the education of students for the next generation of teachers in mathematics. The didactics team offers also activities for schools and teachers in the mathematical didactics laboratory which was already visited by more than 700 groups from schools.
