瑞典隆德大學(xué)是一所現(xiàn)代化，國際化，具有高度活力和歷史悠久的大學(xué)，世界百強大學(xué)之一。它建于1666年，有七個院系以及各研究中心和專業(yè)學(xué)術(shù)機構(gòu)，涉及面有自然科學(xué)，法律，社會科學(xué)，經(jīng)濟管理，醫(yī)學(xué)，工程技術(shù)，人文科學(xué)，神學(xué)和藝術(shù)(包括音樂，美術(shù)和戲劇)。有將近6 000教職員工，是北歐最大的高等教育和科研機構(gòu)。
    隆德大學(xué)的國際合作非常廣泛，是歐洲研究型大學(xué)聯(lián)盟，諸如牛津、劍橋等大學(xué)參與的League of European Research Universities的成員，也是著名國際大學(xué)聯(lián)盟(Universitas 21 )中唯一的斯堪的納維亞大學(xué)，隆德大學(xué)也是哥本哈根、馬爾默和隆德厄爾松地區(qū)的12所大學(xué)組成的大學(xué)聯(lián)盟-厄爾松大(Öresund University) 的成員。2007年隆德大學(xué)被譽為Erasmus 成功先例，是國際交流活動最為活躍的歐洲大學(xué)。每年來隆德學(xué)習(xí)的國際學(xué)生有3000 名左右，而且隆德大學(xué)的科研環(huán)境也非常國際化，不斷地吸引世界各地的教授和學(xué)者來隆德參加科研合作。
    隆德大學(xué)1997-2002擔(dān)任‘歐盟-中國高等教育合作項目’主席，積累了與中國各高教科研合作的寶貴經(jīng)驗并在歐盟以及中國合作對象和范圍內(nèi)樹立了很高的威信。近年來隆德大學(xué)中國的高等教育和科研組織機構(gòu)建立了廣泛的合作 - 2007年9月隆德大學(xué)組織了'北歐中國合作論壇'，北歐科教組織和中科院的專家學(xué)者們就生命科學(xué)，信息科學(xué)，納米科學(xué)，環(huán)境資源科學(xué)雙方的合作進行了深入的討論，旨在進一步促進、并實化與北歐各國的科技合作。
    隆德大學(xué)在許多方面具有特色，如民主的視點，批判的思維，對全球環(huán)境的關(guān)注，以及對種族多樣性和社會多樣性的關(guān)注等等。另外，改革思想與人文主義關(guān)照相結(jié)合以及幽默感也是隆德大學(xué)特有的價值觀。
