    1. because of 是復(fù)合介詞，其后可接名詞或代詞，動(dòng)名詞以及由關(guān)系代詞型的所what 引導(dǎo)的從句等(但不能接that從句)。如：
    He lost his job because of his age. 由于年齡關(guān)系他失去工作。
    I said nothing about it, because of his wife’s being there.
    因?yàn)樗拮釉谀莾?，我?duì)此事一字未提。
    He knew she was crying because of what he had said.
    他知道她哭是因?yàn)樗f(shuō)的話。
    注：請(qǐng)注意下列正誤句子：
    正：He cannot go to school because of sickness. / He cannot go to school because he is sick. 他因病不能上學(xué)。
    誤：He cannot go to school because of (that) he is sick.
    2. 由because of 構(gòu)成的介詞短語(yǔ)一般只用作狀語(yǔ)，而不用作表語(yǔ)。作表語(yǔ)時(shí)可用due to。如：
    誤：Tom’s absence was because of the rain.
    正：Tom’s absence was due to the rain. 湯姆因下雨不能到場(chǎng)。
    注：在閱讀中有時(shí)也可見(jiàn)到because of 短語(yǔ)用作表語(yǔ)，但值得注意的是，此時(shí)句子的主語(yǔ)通常中代詞而不是名詞。如：
    It is because of hard work. 那是因?yàn)閯诶鄣脑颉?BR>    That will be because of money. 那將是因?yàn)榻疱X的緣故。
