一、ashamed的用法
    通常只用作表語(yǔ)，可以用 very, much, very much, deeply, half, quite 等修飾。如：
    I am half ashamed to do so. 這樣做我有些不好意思。
    He was very [much, very much, deeply] ashamed ofwhat he said. 他對(duì)他說(shuō)的話深感慚愧。
    She was ashamed, both for herself and for Diana. 她感到羞愧，既為自己也為戴安娜。
    二、ashamed的搭配
    (1) 后接介詞 of。如：
    I am ashamed of him. 我為他感到羞愧。
    Youreally ought to be ashamed of that. 你實(shí)在應(yīng)該對(duì)此感到慚愧。
    He is ashamed of his failure [having failed]. 他對(duì)自己的失敗感到羞慚。
    I must admit to feeling ashamed of my conduct. 我必須承認(rèn)我為我的行為感到羞恥。
    比較以下各句 (注意反身代詞的有無(wú)與介詞變化)。如：
    a)I am ashamed of that. 我對(duì)此感到羞愧。
    I am ashamed of myself for that. (譯文同上)
    b)He is ashamed of being poor. 他因?yàn)楦F而感到羞慚。
    He is ashamed of himself for being poor. (譯文同上)
    (2) 后接不定式。如：
    I am ashamed to say so. 這樣說(shuō)我不好意思。
    I am quite ashamed to have to trouble you. 真不好意思，我得要麻煩你。
    (3) 后接that-從句。如：
    I am ashamed that I couldn’t answer thequestion. 我很慚愧不能回答這個(gè)問(wèn)題。
    He was ashamed that hehad made some careless mistakes. 他很慚愧出了些粗心的錯(cuò)誤。
    有時(shí)以上幾類句型可互換，且含義沒(méi)有多少變化。如：
    他因說(shuō)謊而感到羞慚。
    正：He was ashamed of having lied.
    正：He was ashamed to have lied.
    正：He was ashamed that he had lied.
