    1. It's Halloween night. Clifford and I meet our friends outside. We are going trick-or-treating! Soon we are on our way.
    2. When we get to Victor and Pedro's house, Vaz knocks on the door. "Trick or treat!" he calls.
    3. Suddenly, the door opens and... "Trick!" Victor and Pedro laugh. The kids scream and run away.
    4. When we walk away, I say, "Dr. Dihn always has yummy treats for us. Her house won't be scary." But everyone is already scared.
    5. At Dr. Dihn's house, Jetta rings the doorbell. "Oh, Dr. Dihn," calls Jetta. "Trick or treat!"
    6. The door opens. "Hello, dear, " says a voice... but it isn't Dr. Dihn. It's a scary witch! Once again, everyone runs.
    7. Finally, we get our treats. We are so happy about it.
    8. When the party is over, I give Clifford a hug. "It's a great night, isn't it?" "Woof!" Clifford agrees.

    What is "trick or treat"?
    萬(wàn)圣節(jié)前夜，孩子們裝扮成精靈鬼怪，拎著南瓜燈挨家挨戶要糖果。敲門時(shí)，他們會(huì)喊"trick(搞惡作劇) or treat(招待)"。 主人可以選擇款待，也可以選擇搞惡作劇。 遇到吝嗇的主人，孩子們也可能搞惡作劇。據(jù)說(shuō)這個(gè)習(xí)俗起源于愛爾蘭。那時(shí)候的人認(rèn)為鬼魂會(huì)在萬(wàn)圣節(jié)前夜到來(lái)，所以人們就自己扮成鬼怪精靈。They walk on the street, and usually put some food in the yard. 這樣就喂飽了鬼，鬼就不會(huì)傷害到人了。 這個(gè)習(xí)俗延續(xù)到現(xiàn)在，成了孩子們一年中最開心的節(jié)日之一。
