    La correa cruzaba mis miembros estrechamente, juntamente con todo mi cuerpo, en todos sentidos, menos en la trayectoria de la cuchilla homicida.
    Aún no había dejado caer de nuevo mi cabeza en su primera posición, cuando sentí brillar en mi espíritu algo que sólo sabría definir, aproximadamente, diciendo que era la mitad no formada de la idea de libertad que ya he expuesto, y de la que vagamente había flotado en mi espíritu una sola mitad cuando llevé a mis labios ardientes el alimento. Ahora, la idea entera estaba allí presente, débil, apenas viable, casi indefinida, pero, en fin, completa. Inmediatamente, con la energía de la desesperación, intenté llevarla a la práctica.
    Hacia varias horas que cerca del caballete sobre el que me hallaba acostado se encontraba un número incalculable de ratas. Eran tumultuosas, atrevidas, voraces. Fijaban en mí sus ojos, como si no esperasen más que mi inmovilidad para hacer presa."¿A qué clase de alimento-pensé-se habrán acostumbrado en este pozo?"
    Menos una pequeña parte, y a pesar de todos mis esfuerzos para impedirlo, había devorado el contenido del plato. Mi mano se había agitado como un abanico sobre el plato; pero, a la larga, la regularidad del movimiento le hizo perder su efecto. Aquella plaga, en su voracidad, dejaba señales de sus agudos dientes en mis dedos. Con los restos de la carne aceitosa y picante que aún quedaba, froté vigorosamente mis ataduras hasta donde me fue posible hacerlo, y hecho esto retiré mi mano del suelo y me quedé inmóvil y sin respirar.
    Los hambrientos animales se sintieron primeramente aterrados y sorprendidos por el cambio... la cesación de movimiento.Se apartaron alarmados y algunos volvieron al pozo. Pero esta actitud no duró más que un instante. No había yo contado en vano con su glotonería. Viéndome sin movimiento, una o dos de las más atrevidas se encaramaron por el caballete y oliscaron la correa. Todo esto me pareció el preludio de una invasión general. Un nuevo tropel surgió del pozo. Agarrándose a la madera, la escalaron y a centenares saltaron sobre mi cuerpo. Nada las asustaba el movimiento regular del péndulo. Lo esquivaban y trabajaban activamente sobre la engrasada tira. Se apretaban moviéndose y se amontonaban incesantemente sobre mí.

    Scarcely had I dropped my head back into its original position, when there flashed upon my mind what I cannot better describe than as the unformed half of that idea of deliverance to which I have previously alluded, and of which a moiety only floated indeterminately through my brain when I raised food to my burning lips. The whole thought was now present -- feeble, scarcely sane, scarcely definite, -- but still entire. I proceeded at once, with the nervous energy of despair, to attempt its execution.
    For many hours the immediate vicinity of the low framework upon which I lay, had been literally swarming with rats. They were wild, bold, ravenous; their red eyes glaring upon me as if they waited but for motionlessness on my part to make me their prey. "To what food," I thought, "have they been accustomed in the well?"
    They had devoured, in spite of all my efforts to prevent them, all but a small remnant of the contents of the dish. I had fallen into an habitual see-saw, or wave of the hand about the platter: and, at length, the unconscious uniformity of the movement deprived it of effect. In their voracity the vermin frequently fastened their sharp fangs in my fingers. With the particles of the oily and spicy viand which now remained, I thoroughly rubbed the bandage wherever I could reach it; then, raising my hand from the floor, I lay breathlessly still.
    At first the ravenous animals were startled and terrified at the change -- at the cessation of movement. They shrank alarmedly back; many sought the well. But this was only for a moment. I had not counted in vain upon their voracity. Observing that I remained without motion, one or two of the boldest leaped upon the frame-work, and smelt at the surcingle. This seemed the signal for a general rush. Forth from the well they hurried in fresh troops. They clung to the wood -- they overran it, and leaped in hundreds upon my person. The measured movement of the pendulum disturbed them not at all. Avoiding its strokes they busied themselves with the anointed bandage. They pressed -- they swarmed upon me in ever accumulating heaps.

    1． 西班牙語屬于拉丁語系，比英語要科學(xué)，是不要音標(biāo)的拼音文字,掌握發(fā)音規(guī)則后就能夠”見詞發(fā)音”。短短的入門，學(xué)的好，就可以地道流利地讀出所有的西班牙文章,這是第一關(guān)！西班牙諺語中把最難做的事情比做”學(xué)漢語”,可見有中文水平的人學(xué)西班牙不是成了最容易的事了?
    2． 西班牙語的小舌音，卷舌連續(xù)抖動的r、rr是中國人的難點(diǎn)，竅門有三。一、發(fā)音前多加上“德拉”；二、利用漱口的時候，多延時5分鐘——“嘟魯魯”；三、堅持2-4周利用上下班和無人的時候，練習(xí)卷舌，以上三點(diǎn)定會讓你有“西班牙”味！還有些音是要聲帶鎮(zhèn)動的，要注意！
     3． 掌握西班牙語動詞的變位也是個要死記硬背，熟能生巧的活！他的變化是為了口語交流中大量的省略主語，口語的方便帶來的動詞變位頭痛是每一個有志學(xué)好西班牙語的人要克服的難關(guān)。有人說：“流利地讀，熟練變位”掌握好了，西班牙語就學(xué)會了一半?。〕鯇W(xué)者就沒有白學(xué)！你也知道了重點(diǎn)在哪里了，可以集中精力去攻哪一塊了。
     4． 有點(diǎn)英語基礎(chǔ)的人，會發(fā)現(xiàn)西班牙語單詞在多數(shù)主要單詞詞干上非常接近，這樣大家學(xué)習(xí)起來又省了些勁！
     5． 學(xué)習(xí)任何外國語，要以模仿開口為優(yōu)先，背會一句就應(yīng)用一句，這樣就算掌握了。不要，先糾語法一堆，就是不敢開口！講錯了，因為你是外國人，別人的背景比你大，所以人家仍然能聽懂你，就象外國人講漢語，即使很不準(zhǔn)，你也能聽懂，搞明白，會原諒他的不標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的。膽子大是第一啊，有人說過，你學(xué)外語多數(shù)都不是為了當(dāng)電臺標(biāo)準(zhǔn)播音員吧，何況，即使母語能挑上當(dāng)播音員的又有幾個？降低標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，抓住重點(diǎn)，能繞開你學(xué)語言的誤區(qū)！
