    My grandmother told me that she had been married(結(jié)婚)for fifty years. She also told me about the many different kinds of gifts that she received during those years.
    After she had been married for one year, she received something made of paper. It was a love letter from her husband. The second year, she got something made of cotton. It was a large piece of green and blue cloth and she made a beautiful dress for herself. The third year, she received leather(皮革)shoes, and the fourth year, she got flowers --- beautiful roses. It has been 46 years since that day but she can still remember how wonderful those roses smelled. The fifth year, she received a wooden(木頭)box for her old watch. The sixth year, she got sweets --- some chocolates --- and the seventh year, wool. She used the wool to make a warm winter sweater. The 25th year after she was married, she got something silver. It was a new silver watch. Her husband died just before the 50th year of their marriage but her children and grandchildren gave her something gold. It was a gold statue(雕塑)of two love birds. What a wonderful life my grandmother had!
