法學院 (Faculty of Law) 成立于1971年3月1日，初時共有219名學生。當時在新南威爾士洲只有悉尼大學提供法律學位課程。UNSW法學院長期以來對社會公正(social justice)非常重視。世界上最大的免費法律信息提供網(wǎng)絡就落戶于此。法學院成立了多個法律資源中心：Kingsford Legal Centre、Australian Human Rights Centre、Gilbert+Tobin Centre for Public Law、Social Justice Project和National Pro Bono Resource Centre。新的法學院大樓內設有專門的法律圖書館，已于2006年開始起用。
